COMMISSION SITTING IN WELLINGTON WORK IN INDUSTRY Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. It was the opinion of the Economic Pensions Commission which began its sittings today, Mr. J. S. Barton presiding, that while there were undoubtedly avenues for the employment of partially disabled soldiers in the manufacturing and business life of the Dominion, the establishment of factories to compete with the existing concerns was inadvisable. The absorption of men in established factories and businesses was preferable and it was suggested that financial encouragement of firms to take on disabled men would be justified. The establishment of a control board to ensure co-operation between firms and returned soldiers suggested by a witness met with approval.
