HIS MAJESTY’S
“JOURNEY’S END” Always there is a pleasure for theatre-goers in war plays, and “Journey’s End,” which is at present being staged at His Majesty’s Theatre, is no exception. Again last evening a packed house gave a great ovation at the conclusion of the performance. Each individual member of the company gained his full share of praise. But such an enthusiastic reception could only be expected, for the occasions are indeed rare that Auckland is favoured with such splendid acting on the part of each member of a company. The story is confined to one setting, that of the dugout of company headquarters. It is a war play from beginning to end, exhibiting all the thrills, pathos and study of human nature of war time. The company commander and platoon officers all make the great sacrifice. It is a graphic story which provides scope for some fin© acting. “Journey’s End” has already pleased many packed houses of Auckland theatre-goers and it is bound to continue with all its popularity until the end of the season.
