THAMES HARBOUR BOARD
The request of the Thames Harbour Board for assistance from the Government, not having been replied to. the chairman, Mr. H. Lowe, at the board meeting yesterday, said he had instructed the secretary to telegraph to the Government.
The reply was: "The district engineer’s report has not been received and. until this is to hand, consideration cannot be given to your request.” It was decided to have the report put in hand immediately. The maintenance of beacon lights on the harbour was discussed. The present cylinders had to be replaced every ten days, and if they were made flashing lights, the cylinders would last 60 to 70 daj's. The cost of alteration would be £ 50, plus labour. The board resolved to make the alteration. From November 11 a wharfage due ol lid in the £ value of fish landed at the wharf will be charged. The fishing companies have agreed to collect the wharfage.
