TWO EDENDALES

POSTAL DIFFICULTIES MOVE TO CHANGE NAME Because there is an Edendale in the South Island and contusion in mail deliveries is said to occur, there is a move by residents of the Edendale district. Auckland, to have the name changed. It is suggested that Sandringham might be appropriate. A meeting called recently by Mr. F. J. H. Harrison and presided over by Mr. Bruce Scott, discussed the proposed change. Air. Harrison explained that a new name was desirable because of postal difficulties. The Auckland Edendale was strictly Edendale North. In proposing Sandringham as a suitable alternative Mr. Harrison said there was no other district in the Dominion of that name. It had a pleasant signification in that it meant “sunny.” Edendale Road could be renamed Sandringham Road. ' It was decided that steps should be taken to have the name of the district altered. It was stated that a petition was being circulated, and that a deputation would wait upon the Mount Albert Borough Council.
