TARARU TENNIS
From Our Oxen Correspondent THAMES, Today. A tennis match between the Tararu and Central Tennis Clubs took place at Tararu on Saturday afternoon. Mr. G. Hays extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, and trusted that the clubs would meet often during the season, and engage in friendly rivalry. In Saturday’s match Central were the winners, the points being Central 164, Tararu 155. The results are as follow, Central names being first: Mixed Doubles. —F. Moran and J. Gordon, 20, beat G. Hays and E. Robinson, 15: S. McDonald and J. Smith, 18, lost to E. Fowler and Vie Smith, 20; A. Miller and A. Smith, 17, lost to B. Challis and D. Montague, 20; P. Smith and Vera Smith, 20, beat R. Robinson and H. Hillcoat, 14: A. Thompson and Rose Smith. 20, beat A. Crosbie and Mrs. J. Smith, 14. Women’s Doubles. —Jean Smith and J. Gordon, 20, beat Vie Smith and E. Robinson. 14: R. and Vera Smith, 13. lost to D. Montague and H. Hillcoat, 20. Men’s Doubles. —F. Moran and P. Smith, 20. beat G. Hays and D. Ritchie, 18: A. Miller and M. Thompson, 16, lost to R. and E. Challis, 20.
