ANNUAL BALL

Rangataua Public Service Function COLOURFUL EFFECT This week the members of the Rangataua Public Service held their annual ball in the Rangataua Town Hall. This proved a most successful function. The hall was attractively decorated with multicoloured streamers, balloons and palms. The floor was excellent, a great many dancers being present. Bright, spirited music was provided by the Peerless Dance Orchestra, whilf Mrs. Deckie and Mr. C. Plank contributed several welcome extras. Early in the evening gay paper hats, and later, brilliant paper streamers, were distributed among the dancers, and these added a note of vivid colour to the scene. The committee included Mrs. Drury, who was wearing a frock of coffeecoloured silk lace; Mrs. Harrison, in red crepe de chine, relieved with cream lace; Mrs. Graham, in green crepe de chine and gold lace; Mrs. J. Barnacle,, In air-force blue georgette and lace to tone; and Mrs. A. Murdie, in figured vieux rose silk maTocain The committee also comprised Messrs. Drury, hon. secretary; Fenton, Fox, Barnacle and Vincent. Messrs. Donaldson, Nixon and S. McIvor ably officiated as M.C.’s and helped to make the evening a success. The dancers included:

WEDDING FESTIVITY

CELEBRATION DANCE EXCELLENT MUSIC A most enjoyable dance was given by Mr. and Mrs. Curran in the Dominion Hall on Tuesday evening- to celebrate the wedding of their daughter who had been married the same afternoon to Mr. J. Little. Excellent dance music was contributed by the Felix Orchestra conducted by Mr. T. Reeves. Other artists who contributed enjoyable items were the Snappy Three, Mrs. Davidson and Mr. Hawk, Messrs. F. Northend, J. Grant and J. Scandle, also Miss E. Curran, Miss L. Sheehan, Miss E. Boddy. Mrs. Curran received her guests wearing a frock of brown georgette. Mrs. Little wore white satin with silver trimming. Among the guests were: Mrs. Gordon, who wore nut brown satin relieved with beige; Mrs. Minns, pale green celanese; Miss Taylor, blue crepe de chine; Mrs. Walker, beige crepe de chine and lace; Mrs. Backhouse, pink georgette relieved with blue and silver; Mrs. Purdy, black panne velvet; Mrs. Wolley, beige crepe de chine; Mrs. Bright, navy blue crepe de chine; Mrs. Boddy, navy crepe de chine, with oriental trimming; Mrs. Batty, beige lace; Mrs. Bates, white satin; Mrs. Reeves, apricot lace, shawl to match; Mrs. Bird, blue frock; Mrs. Hanfling, grey georgette and cerise: Mrs. W. Bird, beige crepe de chine relieved with blue; Mrs. Antonio, white satin beaute and silver.
