GOOD TROUT CATCHES

SPORT AT LAKE OKATAINA Okataina Lake, where the largest and best conditioned trout caught in New Zealand waters was hooked last year, is upholding its reputation, well, judging by a display of big rainbow trout in a Queen Street window. The largest fish weighs 121 b. and the average weight is 71b. Recent visitors to Lake Okataina report that fish are plentiful, and are in excellent condition. The 'season has been open only a few days, but several good catches have already been made by launch parties. The lake is 25 miles from Rotorua, and off the beaten tourist track, but promises to become the home of the true fisherman. An excellent road leads right to the accommodation house, where both launches and row-boats are available for hire.
