SUBURBAN CRICKET
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION ANNUAL SHIELD TOURNAMENT To last night’s meeting of the management committee of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Assockition, Mr. A. Stanley submitted a report of the annual conference of associations held at Wellington on Labour Day. Mr. Stanley said that Auckland’s request that the Walker Shield, tournament be decided at Wellington, instead of Auckland at Cliristmuf* had been deferred, pending further consideration by Wellington. Owing to lack of finance, Canterbury would not be taking part in the tournament. Messrs. J. Elliott and 11. Cattera! were nominated for the position of sole selector. The former withdrew, and Mr. Catterall was appointed. Mr. A. Bell gave notice to move that the registration fee of third grade players be reduced. It was reported that the subcommittee had made excellent progress in the organisation of a Wednesday competition. There was every prospect that eight commercial houses would nominate teams. The final arrangements were left in the hands of Mr. H. Catteral. TAUMARUNUI ASSOCIATION From Our Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Sunday.
