Market at Midday An improved market for practically all bank scrip was one of the features of today’s midday call. Buyers of Commercials moved up to 27s 4d, but sellers asked 28s 6d. Sellers of Nationals of New Zealand withdrew. Buyers of Unions of Australia also moved up above last week’s closing market price. The loan and agency group is quiet, but there is a better inquiry for most shares dealing with, the man on the land. Coals hold firm at late quotations, with Renowns attracting steady attention on a very firm market. In the miscellaneous group buyers have come in for Tonson Garlicks after a long period of inaction, and the buying price shows a slight upward tendency, although it still holds on comparatively low levels. The mining group is quiet, but steady trading is recorded in the market for some of the better-known shares. Ohinemuris show a rising tendency; the market was very firm this morning with sellers asking 11s, compared with sales at under 10s last week. * * * Dividends Payable Due.
