Market on ’Change Bv “Noon Call.” A FEATURE ot the market at the week’s opening calls on ’Change this morning was the sustained increase in the buying strength tor bank shares. Buyets predominated, and the market registered a buoyant tone.

At the midday call:—Bank of New Wales, £4B 10s; Bank of New Zealand. 60s 9d; New Zealand Insurance. 46s 3d; Renown Collieries (pref.) .'is Id; New Zealand War Loan, 1932, f»i per cent., £99 10s. jGisborne Sheepfarmers Show a Loss A loss of £1,813 is shown in the Annual report and balance sheet of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat nnd Mercantile Company, Ltd., for the rear ended August 31, 1929. The loss ■was made in the freezing department, killing figures for which show a big reduction on previous years’ returns. The mercantile department showed a Vrotit, but the directors predict lower profits for the current season on account of decreased prices for primary produce, unless there is an increase in 1 urnover. A preference dividend is to be paid but of the balance brought forward from last year, leaving £2B at profit iind loss account. * * * pTaupiri Coal Dividend The directors of the Taupiri Coal Stines, Ltd., announce the payment of sin interim dividend on the ordinaries at the rate of Is a share for the halfyear ended .September 30. Transfer ibooks close from November 7 to No- > ember 16, both days inclusive.

Market at Midday An improved market for practically all bank scrip was one of the features of today’s midday call. Buyers of Commercials moved up to 27s 4d, but sellers asked 28s 6d. Sellers of Nationals of New Zealand withdrew. Buyers of Unions of Australia also moved up above last week’s closing market price. The loan and agency group is quiet, but there is a better inquiry for most shares dealing with, the man on the land. Coals hold firm at late quotations, with Renowns attracting steady attention on a very firm market. In the miscellaneous group buyers have come in for Tonson Garlicks after a long period of inaction, and the buying price shows a slight upward tendency, although it still holds on comparatively low levels. The mining group is quiet, but steady trading is recorded in the market for some of the better-known shares. Ohinemuris show a rising tendency; the market was very firm this morning with sellers asking 11s, compared with sales at under 10s last week. * * * Dividends Payable Due.
