ADVERTISING N.Z.
GOOD WORK BY C.P.R. TOURIST TRAFFIC INCREASE “The Canadian Pacific Railways are doing more to advertise New Zealand in Canada than any other organisation,” said Mr. A. W. Essex, New Zealand manager for the company, who returned yesterday afternoon by the Aorangi. IIK. ESSEX has been on a combined ± ' s - holiday and business visit to Canada and has brought back interesting news of the big developments in the tourist traffic there. » The business of the company has grown to such an extent in New Zealand that a travelling passenger agent has been appointed, with headquarters in Wellington. Mr. J. T. Campbell, who will occupy the position, arrived on the Aorangi with Mr. Essex. Speaking of the C.P.R. publicity for New Zealand, Mr. Essex said that every one of the company's offices displays New Zealand posters and literature. The company’s hotels are provided with big electric displays of Dominion scenes and they are very beautiful at night. On each of the company’s Atlantic ships four motion picture films of New Zealand are carried—one depicting the industries of the Dominion and the other three featuring scenery and sport. These are shown on the voyages across the Atlantic on both east and west-bound vessels. Every year more and more people in Canada are becoming interested in New Zealand and Australia, says Mr. Essex, and especially along the Pacific Coast a great deal of interest is shown in our deep-sea fishing. On his tour through Canada Mr. Essex found business very good indeed and the tourist trade had increased so much that additions had had to be made to several ot the C.P.R. hotels.
