LIFTING 30-TON “LADDER.”—The Lyttelton Harbour Board’s dredge, Canterbury, is having its suction ladder lengthened by eight feet. This will enable the dredge to deepen the channel of the port to 40 feet. The ladder, which weighs 30 tons, is here being lifted on to the wharf by a crane.
