PERSONAL. —Captain Duncan McDonald, of the Island passenger steamer Tofua, was relieved yesterday by Captain A. H. Prosser. Captain McDonald has been granted holidays, and leaves here on Monday for South. Captain Henderson, formerly of the Aratapu, is now master of the Portland. Captain Nalder, late of the Kohl, is now in command of the Kotiti. Captain E. T. Smith is in command of the Rangiteki now at Auckland, and he has associated with him the following officers: —Chief, Mr. C. R. Pilcher; second, Mr. E. H. Hopkins; third, Mr. H. C. KENT LEAVES PANAMA. —The New Zealand Shipping Company.has been notified by cablegram that the Federal steamer Kent arrived at Colon on Monday from Liverpool, and left Panama Canal on Monday evening for New Zealand ports. The vessel is due at Auckland on November 20.
AORANGI REPORTS.—According to a radio message received by the local office of the Union Company, the R.M.M.S. Aorangi is expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland at two o’clock tomorrow afternoon from Vancouver and way ports. About 3.30 p.m. she will berth at the Prince’s Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel at 5 p.m. on Monday for Sydney.
TOFU A SAILS. Besides cargo and mails, the Union Company’s Island passenger steamer Tofua, which was dispatched this morning on her monthly trip to Fiji, Tonga and Samoa, took the following . passengers:—Saloon: Chiefs Tuimalealiifano and M. KAITOKE WITH COAL. Cable advice received by the local office of the 1 Union Company states that the collier Kaitoke left Gladstone, Queensland, at 1 p.m. yestei'day with a cargo of coal for discharge at Auckland. She is expected here on Thursday next. REMUERA ON MONDAY. Leaving Wellington at five o’clock this afternoon for Auckland, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera is due here on Monday morning. She will berth at the Queen’s Wharf and next Wednesday is to be dispatched for Napier, where she completes loading and finally clears on November 9 for Southampton and London, via Panama. AEAPAWA, due from Westport tomorrow, is to go on the hard on Monday for cleaning and painting. Next Wednesday afternoon she is to be dispatched for Opunake and Wanganui. HAUTURU, arriving from Hokianga at 6 a.m. tomorrow, is to go on the hard on Monday for cleaning and painting. At 4 p.m. on Tuesday she sails for Raglan, Kawhia and W'aikato Heads. HOKIANGA is due back in port on Monday from Hokianga, and is scheduled to leave on the return trip at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. IvAITOA arrived from Nelson this morning. At noon on Monday she is sailing for Nelson and Motueka. NGAPUHI arrived from New Plymouth this morning, and is announced to sail for that port again at 3.30 p.m. on Monday.
