KINGCRAFT IMPRESSES

GOOD WORK AT ADDINGTON LOGAN PARK IN RARE TRIM (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Kingcraft was responsible for the star performance at Addington this morning, tramping a mile and a-hal f in 3.17 to the call of Drum Withers. The track was in perfect order and very fast. Concliff went two miles the opposite way round. Me was not pressed- until the last half. Prince Pointer, without hopples, shaped well at two miles. Yv ah surprised by the way lie went a mile. It was a fine work and a big improvement on some previous essays. John Mauritius and Erin’s Lynn were together over two miles. John Mauritius went without a mistake and the try-out was a pleasing one on the part of both horses. Maiwhariti went a mile in smart time. Steel All easily Beat Lady Matchlight in a mile and a-half bout. The time was good, the pair coming home at a 2.12 clip. Royal Silk went a mile at a good pace. Logan Park Improving. Logan Park, unhoppled, created a surprise by the way he went the last quarter of a two-mile run. He looks very well and is improving all the time. Locanda Boy’s mission was two miles. He was assisted over the last mile and a-quarter by Apex and Rap, who finished in front of him. Locanda Boy’s full journey was done in good time, while Apex did what was asked of him in faultless style. Todd Biqgen had a start from Nelson Boy and Sarella at the mile and a-half peg, but he tired badly in the last three furlongs, and Sarella and Nelson

Boy finished well ahead of him on terms at the end. It was pleasing work on the part of Sarella and Nelson Boy. Cup Favourite Orphan acted as pacemaker to Kingcraft (D. Withers) over a mile and ahalf. Kingcraft got to the first quarter in 34. Th© half-mile was reached in 1.6 2-5, and then more juice was'asked for, and the mile was left behind in 2.10 3-5. Kingcraft was going nicely at the mile and a-quarter post, reached in 2.43 4-5, and he was not fully extended to finish up the mile and ahalf in 3.17. Orphan was well back at the end, but his work-out was useful. Kingcraft greatly impressed track watchers, and he will increase in favour for the New Zealand Cup. St. Maura beat Jolly Pet in a mile anil a-quarter run. The pair raced home at about a 2.12 clip. Trimmer was not extended to.go two miles at a 2.24 clip. He is well. Elzear trotted two miles faultlessly. Great Bingen went a mile and a-quarter in 2.46 on Wednesday and a mile and a-half in 3.30. Talaro was no use to him, and he was not fully extended.
