Obituary

MR. GEORGE AUCKRAM The death took place yesterday of one of the earliest residents of Onehunga. Mr. George Auekram, aged 85. He was born at Wanworth. Surrey, England, in 1842, and arrived in Auckland with his parents by the ship Berhampore in 1849. As a young man he went to the West Coast gold rush in the ? 60’s, but he spent most of his life on the Manukau Harbour. For many years he was employed in the kauri bush at Huia. and later was a sawmiller at Oneliunga.

He was one of the earliest members of Court Pride, A.O.F. His wife predeceased him many years ago, and he is survived by four sons, two daughters. 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grand-children.
