Tlio introduction of the Local Legislation Bill, otherwise the 'Washingup” Bill, marks the approaching end of the session. Various interesting clauses appear in the Bill. The Auckland City Council is to be authorised to raise without a poll of ratepayers a special loan or loans for a total amount not exceeding - £ 35.200. to recoup the district fund account for sums advanced from that account for the redemption of several special matured loans. Power for the Mount Eden Borough Council to lease the Mount Eden Bowlins. Chib’s pavilion and green, constructed by the council, is sought in the Bill. The period of the lease is -1 years, renewable for 21 years. The Henderson Town Board seeks authority to raise a supplementary loan of £5,013 6s 9d to pay its contribution to the cost of a main highway. The council overestimated the amount it was going to spend, having first raised £ 2,890. Validation of expenditure of £646 7s 6d, by the Mount Roskilf Road Board, in the construction of lootpaths in Dominion Road in bitumen instead of concrete, from Boundary Road to Mount Albert Road, is sought. Validation is also sought by the Auckland City Council of expenditure in maintaining Motuihi Island as a domain pending the vesting of the island in the Auckland Council as a Domain Board. The council is to have all necessary powers in the direction of upkeep and control. Authority is to be given the Auckland Institute and Museum to spend £3OO on the expenses in connection with the opening of the new museum next month.
