ST. JAMES THEATRE

JIM GERALD AT HIS BEST Jls each week passes, Jim Gerald and his revue company become more popular to the large audiences that attend St. James Theatre nightly. His latest production, without a doubt, is the best show that he has put on yet. From the rise of the curtain until the final call there is not a dull moment throughout the two and three-quarter hours’ entertainment. Clever humour, bright singing, and excellent dancing, with beautiful settings, make the revue pass all too quickly. Jim Gerald, with his usual make-up and his nonsense, keeps the audience in a continuous state of merriment. With Reg Hawthorne he sings “Gallagher and Shean” with great gusto, while as a humorous solo “Paddy McGinty’s Goat” is a scream. Jim Gerald’s eccentric dancing is very clever. Linda Foy, Tom Dale, and Howard Hall, a vocal trio, give a splendid interpretation of “II Naviganti.” Several numbers were sung by Tom Dale. Lily Coburn, Joan Graham, Ron Shand, and Linda Foy. while the Twinklers help in the chorus.

In the second half of the programme a gloom-chasing revue in three acts, entitled “Barebacks,” was given,, and without a doubt this revue would chase away any gloom. It is full of humour and clever dancing, while as a finale the company gives a clever gymnastic display. The whole show is brimful of very clever humour, and is well worth seeing.
