GONE SOUTH
J McMAHON left for Wellington on Tuesday night with Gold Jacket and Torpedo Huon, and at the conclusion of Hutt Park activities will proceed to Addington. Both pacers are in good heart and should be in good trim when the Metropolitan carnival comes round. In his last work-out at Otahuhu the Auckland New Zealand Cup hope went nicely, and with a solid race at Wellington and further tests the following week at Christchurch, Gold Bell’s son should be ready for the opposition in the great trotting event of the year. Torpedo Huon, by his two displays in the two-mile events at Epsom, demonstrated that he is now striking form.
