“THE PILLION GIRL”
NOTED SURGEON DEFENDS PRACTICE “MOST ATTRACTIVE SIGHT” Reed. 1.50 p.m. LONDON, Monday. The prejudice against the “pillion girl” is not shared by Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, the noted surgeon, who in a public address at Stepney said: —“One of the most attractive sights of the present day is a young man, with a girl riding on a pillion. Pillion-riding takes city people out of the smoke into the sunlight,. which the human body most needs. There is an outcry because some are killed; but they are few, compared with the thousands who benefit.”
