WARD SYSTEM ADOPTED
MOVEMENT IN MOUNT ROSKILL As the result of representations made to the Mount Roskill Road Board last evening by the West Ratepa> ers Association, it was decided, on the motion of Messrs. S. Scarborough ana K. \v . banft, to devide the district into wards. Discussing the proposal. Mr S I Goodall, chairman of the Finance Comnut Lee, said that if the motion is to be limited to the election of board members he would oppose it, but if Mr. ;m" rb °/S U = h WOUIa include the quesfinance he would vote for it. Other members contended that the i:!! lef „° biect ln dividing the district should be to make provision for the expenditure of rates in the locality where they were collected. F- Tansley pointed out that before allocating revenue to am- particular area, considerable deductionr would be necessary to meet the general xpenses of the board as well as the annual interest charges on loans. Mr. Scarborough having agreed to include the question of finance in his motion it was carried unanimously and l^ rre ?.,* ° the Finance Committee for settlement of the boundaries of \*l r ards and preparation of the necessary details.
