MOUNT ALBERT ROAD

LOCAL BODY DIFFERENCES LOAN FOR CONCRETING Tli© Mount Albert Borough Council recently raised objections to the neglected condition of that portion of Mount Albert Road under the control of the Mount Roskill Road Board. former body has paved its side of the road in concrete, but the other side of the highway is still in the rough scoria stage and is naturally avoided by vehicular traffic. The result is that the concreted half of the road is called upon to bear the whole of the wear and tear. The thoroughfare is a main highway and after lengthy negotiations with the Main Highways Board, proposals for a, concreting loan were recently rejected by the Roskill ratepayers. The Mount Albert Council now wants to a know what the Roskill Road Board is going to do about it and the Roskill Road Board at its last meeting asked the Main Highways Board what it proposed to do. However, at last evening’s meeting of the road board the works committee reported that it had carefully inspected the boai-d’s side of the road and recommended that when Orakau Avenue is finished the board’s men be put on this portion of Mount Albert Road to clean, re-form and metal the side opposite the concrete slab of Mount Albert, so that the public can have no excuse for not using the board’s side of the road and when completed the Mount Albert Borough Council bo advised that the board’s portion of the road is in good order and that the board cannot prevent traffic using their concrete slab. The recommendation was adopted.
