GRAND AND LYRIC
“PAINTED POST” Trapped in a gloomy, windowless cellar, Tom Mix. starred in “Painted Post,” escapes in a whirlwind manner that would make the late Moudini blush with shame. The story of “Painted Post,” now at the Grand and Lyric Theatres, deals with the conflict between Mix, as sheriff of Painted Post, and a gang of cut-throats led by Ben Tuttle, the scourge of the sage brush country. Mix, after a series of smashing incidents, forces Tuttle into a showdown and the result is one of the most daring fights enacted on the silver screen. An entire mountain side is demolished by Tuttle in his desperate attempt to block the tireless Mix, who clings to the chase with bulldog tenacity. The second big attraction, entitled “Let ’Er Go, Gallagher,” is a breezy tale of American sporting life, starring Junior Coghlan, Harrison Ford and Elinor Fair. In addition, an American novelty dancing and comedy act, “Black and White,” will be presented every evening during the week at the Grand.
