The doings of the Xew Zealand League players in England are always noted with interest, and the following comment by a sporting writer of the “St. Helens Newspaper and Advertiser" wouJd be pleasant reading to colonials: “Hardgrave had the pleasure of scoring bis first try. upon which he was congratulated by all the team (St. Helens), and he had to skip for it. for ‘Ginger* Owen chased him like a little Tiger.” Ellaby. the crack St. Helens back, scored four tries in the match : commented on, viz., against Widnes, i which was beaten by 21 to 8. “Hutt ' and Hall were all that could be desired, but these Xew Zealanders can't carry S the lot of the forward division %»n their ( backs.” ran the criticism, which was ■ distinctly pronounced in favour of the ' Xew Zealanders. --=
