AMATEUR ROWING IN N.Z.

ASSOCIATION MEETS NEW OFFICERS CHOSEN Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held last evening, with Mr. J. Maclaine, of Marlborough, in the chair. Referring to the championship eights, he said he did not think Corsair Bay, where the race was held last year, was suitable for such, a race. Mcnzies, H. H. McLean, C. F. Turner; secretary’ and treasurer, Mr. A. D. Bayfield. Alterations were made to the rules, providing for four substitutes for eightoar crews: bUic-k jerseys with silver ferns in place of white jerseys with maroon facings for New Zealand crews; and the prohibition of the use of coxswains in championship pairs races. The meeting decided to present an eight to the Southland Association, provided it found half the cost. A motion to provide an eight for countrv* Auckland clubs, on similar lines, was lost. It was stated that when the council gave eights to local associations throughout New Zealand, Southland was defunct, but had since
