Dixieland Holds Gala Night BIRTHDAY CARNIVAL A UNIQUE RUSSIAN DANCE The fourth anniversary of Dixieland Cabaret was held last evening, a large number of dancers being present. A feature of the occasion was a three-tiered cake with four candles sent out by Mrs. Follick. A new Russian dance by Miss Gwen McXaughton was enthusiastically received. This is the first time the dance has been given in New Zealand. The encore given was an interpretation of Brahms's Sixth Hungarian Dance. Among those present were: Mi's. The club’s colours of blue and white made an effective scheme of decoration, streamers being carried from the centre of the room to the side walls, which were skilfully camouflaged with punga ferns and a wealth of greenery.
