FAREWELL TO GIANNINI

FINAL CONCERT TONIGHT I It is with feelings of the deepest | gratitude mingled with regret at her ! departure that Aucklanders will say I farewell to Dusolina Giannini, who gives her final concert in the Town Hall Concert Chamber this evening. No concert artist who has ever appeared here has enjoyed so great a personal triumph, and from an artistic point of view certainly has so well deserved it. The term “perfect” is a dangerous one to use carelessly, but it seems that it must be applied to Giannini. Not only her voice—smooth as velvet in the lower register, soaring flute-like in the higher—but her magnetic personality sways her audiences to the highest pitch of enthusiasm. Voice, technique, production,, feeling, all combine in her singing to enchant. She has, too, the priceless possession of youth to enhance her gift. Anyone who has not yet heard this great singer will he well advised not to miss this last opportunity offered by this evening's concert. The programme will include a further gioup of the Italian and Spanish folk songs which have been a feature of previous concerts. Opera will be represented by the "One Pine Day” aria from "Madame Butterfly,” while songs in English will Include "The Answer,” by I Robert Terry, and "We’ll to the i Woods,” by Griffes. Of particular m- | terest will be a group of Italian songs i bv Respighi, Guarnieri and Cimara. ; Mr. irfol Deutsch. violinist, and Miss I Molly Bernstein, pianist, are the supj porting artists. Box plans are at Lewis Lady, Ltd., I and day sale tickets at Colemans. | tobacconist, H.M. Arcade.
