TWO GAMES OFF
RAIN INTERFERES WITH CRICKET As a result of this morning’s rain, the Management Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association decided to abandon the two all-day matches set down for decision at Eden Park. The games, to have commenced at 9.45. were:—United Suburbs v. University, Xo. 2 wicket; and Parnell v. Eden. Xo. 3 wicket. Special interest would have centred round the ParnellEden game, as A. F. Wensley, Auckland’s new professional player-coach, was to have made his first appearance in Auckland for Parnell. The game at Devonport, between North Shore and Y.M.C.A., was delayed some time by the weather, but a start was made before noon. The fourth match. Ponsonby v. Grafton, at Victoria Park, commenced early in the afternoon, after rain had delayed the start by three hours.
