DREADFUL OUTRAGE
MAN BURNED BY THIEVES AT SYDNEY INFLAMMABLE LIQUID USED Chatted P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) SYDNEY, Sunday. A terrible outrage was perpetrated at Surrey Hills last evening. Thieves attacked Thomas Ivory, a bricklayer, aged 44. They threw some inflammable liquid over his clothes and face, and then applied a lighted match to it. A woman discovered the man's plight and subdued the flames, which were burning his clothes, with a bucketful of water. Mr. Ivory was terribly burned and his dying depositions were taken. Later he succumbed to his injuries. The victim's watch, chain, money and boots were stolen. No arrest has yet been made.
