TWO BOYS DROWNED
TRAGIC FISHING TRIP IN LAGOON TWO OTHERS ESCAPE Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. Arthur Algie, aged 12, and Douglas Hayward, aged 12, two members of a party of four who went fishing in a lagoon at Stirling on Saturday afternoon, were drowned when their leaky flatbottomed punt sank in 10 feet of water. Stephen Algie, aged 15, and Archie Hanly, aged 12. were thrown clear of the punt and Stephen Algie was the only member of the party who could swim. He got Hanly ashore. Hayward's body was recovered, but efforts at resuscitation were unavailing.
