Won by two lengths, with a half between second and third. Time, 2.46 Y Tresham was favourite for the Rona Hurdles. Brigadier Bill went to the front early, and along the back Modern, Askari and Tresham were with him. Modern led to the straight, where Brigadier Bill came on again to win by two lengths from Novar, who beat Tresham by half a length, with Modern a close fourth and Beaumont last.

Footpad and Rasouli led into the straight in the Spring Trial Stakes from Vali, Arrowhead, Roundelay and Imateagirl, and in a fine finish Vali did his best to win by half a length from Roundelay, with Imateagirl another half-length away and Habit fourth. TARARUA HANDICAP Of £260; 1 mile I—COUNT PALATINE, 7.0 1 B —AUSTERITY, 8.0 : 2 6—LUCKY LIGHT. 8.7 3 Scr.: Malahat. Won by a head, with a length between second and third. Time, 1.40. From a fairly even start in the Tararua Handicap. Royal Opera, Lucky Light and Tigrano were soon in front from Make Up, Austerity, My Own and Llyn Dbu. Nearing the straight Koval Opera was in charge from Lucky Light. Tigrano, Llyn Dhu. with Count Palatine and Austerity handy. Austerity took charge but Count Palatine got up in the last stride to win by a head. Lucky Light was only a length away third, and Royal Opera and Make Up were next. ROSENEATH HANDICAP Of £400; 5 fur. 3 GESTURE. 8.2 .. .. 1 1 I—CHIEF LINK. 9.4 2 4 GREEN LINNET. 7.5 3 All started. Won by two lengths, with three lengths between second and third. Time. 58?.. Nimble was bracketed with the winner.
