WRECKAGE TELLS STORY
MANY LIVES BELIEVED LOST ON GREAT LAKES TWO BODIES FOUND (United P.A,-—By Telegraph — Copyright) Australian and N.Z. Press Association (United Service) Reed. 10.30 a.m. MILWAUKEE, Wed. The finding of two bodies iu lifebelts marked Milwaukee has shattered faint hopes felt for the safety of 52 persons aboard Grand Trunk motorcar ferry of that name on Lake Michigan, which left here on Tuesday for Grand Haven, Michigan. It was hoped that the ferry had weathered a 4S-hour storm which swept the lake, but the finding of empty lifeboats, mattresses and parts of a white cabin believed to be from tbe ferry, four miles from Racine, caused these hopes to fade. Later the two bodies in lifebelts were found. The fate of many persons on unreported ships is uncertain following a terrific Great Lakes storm.
Property damage to Chicago breakwaters, boulevards and parks totals £400,000, with other tremendous damage to private property here and elsewhere.
