SCOW ASHORE

RAHIRI STRANDED ON ISLAND TUG TO THE RESCUE The auxiliary scow Rahiri went ashore, at Chamberlain’s Island yesterday morning. The vessel, which is owned by Mr. A. W. Bryant, shingle contractor, of Auckland, was engaged in transporting shingle from the island to Auckland, but as yet, no particulars as to the cause of the mishap are available. The tug Sambo, owned by the Auckland Launch and Tow Boat Company, wis dispatched this morning to tow the stranded vessel to port. Mr. Bryant and a shipwright went down on the tug. The vessels are not expected to arrive in port until about 6 o'clock this evening. Captain R. Chisholm is master of the Rahiri.

The Rahiri is a vessel of 35 tons, with a. length of 66 feet, and a breadth of 18 feet. She was built in Auckland in 1907.
