A special order was carried by the City Council last evening granting the Glen Eden Town Board a lease of a portion of the cemetery reserve at Waikumete. * * * Grass seed, free of cost to the council, for the slopes round the War Memorial Museum was ottered hv Messrs. Arthur Yates and Co Ltd. The gift was accepted with thank-; A contribution of £750 will be made by the City Council toward the cost of metalling the Huia dam road. The engineer to the Waitema’a County Council, which is handling tile work, notilied the city last evenin'that funds were available to begin operations at an early date The carrying out of further work in the locality would he contingent on the receipt of the city’s contribution. The work from the end of the existing metal on 125 chains of road wouid cost about £2,250.
"This offer should be accepted— it is a wonderful tender,” remarked Cr B. M. on a Parks Committee subject. “We have had wonderful tenders before and we have been sorrv for it,” said the Mayor drily.
