CLERGYMAN ROBBED
VAGRANT SENT FOR SENTENCE (Special to THE SUE) THAMES, Thursday. , Charged in the Police Court today } v ith breaking and entering the house of the Rev. David Hird, at Opotiki, and stealing a watch and chain valued at £ls, Francis Vernon, 55, was remanded to appear at Opotiki. He admitted entering the house of the Rev. W. E. Lambert, of Thames, stealing two leather purses valued at and £2 5s in money. Evidence was given that accused was arrested on a charge of vagrancy when on the road to Whangamata. After his arrest he dropped a purse on the road. C° ns } ab !f J Sricol gave evidence that T^ CU S.“ d , ad mitted he had entered Mr. Lambert s house and stolen the purses and money. isimmSS Pleaded guilty and was he Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence.
