WATER FLOODS TUNNEL Press Association GISBORNE, Thursday. Heavy rain, accompanied by a strong southerly wind, has been" falling at Gisborne almost continuously for the past 24 hours. Some of the rivers in the back country are rising. A slip occurred on the GisborneMotu line, and blocked the railway traffic. A train was sent from Gisborne, with the intention of transhipping its passengers, but on reaching Te Karaka, 18 miles from Gisborne, it was found that the water in the tunnel was at a dangerous height, and the train returned.
