PROMOTING BUSINESS
KARANGAHAPE ROAD SOCIETY ‘‘The many years of continuous effort on the part of the executive for post office facilities had now been rewarded and work is to be commenced almost immediately,” stated the president, Mr. M. J. Bennett, in his report at the annual meeting of the Karangahape Road Business Promotion Society, held yesterday. During the year three resignations were received and 16 new members were elected, leaving the present membership of 85, an increase of 13. Concerning the Morningside deviation, it was regretted that the position was not likely to show any change for two or three years, but the committee would not allow the matter to rest. Improvements had been effected in the control of traffic in Karangahape Road, additional traffic officers being posted during rush-hours. The City Council had under consideration further improvements in the control of traffic by mechanical devices. Following representations by the committee to the Railway Department, a railway booking office had been opened in Karangahape Road. It was now in full operation and was proving most useful. An effort was being made to have the Auckland Power Board establish an office in Karangahape Road and the board had agreed to give the matter careful consideration after the opening of the new building in Queen Street. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. M. J. Bennett; vicepresidents, Messrs. E. E. Kitchener, G. Read, G. Court, F. Rendell, G. Ashley and H. Thomas; committee, Messrs. W. H. Lamb, H. J. S. Lamb, J. W. Probert, I. Phillips, J. P. Fisher, A. Hansen, J. Y. C. Maxwell, J. A. Massam, E. Jones, A. Aley, R. J. S. Gray and B. M. Irvine; hon auditor, Mr. G. A. Kissling; trustees, Messrs.
