SCANDAL IN EMBASSY
SIGNOR MUSSOLINI WAS VERY ANGRY DIPLOMATIC CODE STOLEN iiufroKon and N.Z. Press Association (United Service) Seed. 12.19 p.m. BERLIN, Tuesday. The “Vossische Zeitung” says the Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Mussolini, has recalled the entire Italian fiabassy staff from Berlin. The reason is the mysterious disappearance of the Embassy’s secret diplomatic code. Mussolini has taken drastic disciplinary measures against the entire ctaff of the Italian Embassy here. Owing to the theft, which occurred tome months ago, resulting in desperate efforts to hush up the theft. Italisa circles believe anti-Fascists are responsible and it is unlikely it will over be satisfactorily cleared up. Mussolini, who was very angry, ordered an immediate investigation and two Embassy officials recalled to Italy were placed under arrest pend»g further inquiries. Questioning of the Embassy staff then undertaken and almost the sntire staff was changed twice in a month, “for administrative purposes.” Italian Ambassador, Count Androvandi-Marescotti. later came to home, reporting to II Duce.
