STRUCK BY CAR
FARMER ESCAPES SERIOUS INJURY From, Our Own Correspondent WHANGAREI, Today. The \\ aipu police are making inquiries regarding an accident which occurred on the Ruakaka Plat yester- | day morning, when Mr. Jack Salle, a married man with two children, was knocked down by a motor-car driven by Mr. Leonard Monk, o£ Auckland. Mr. Salle, after bringing his cream out to the road, left his sledge while he went to speak with a neighbour. Noticing the approach of a motor-ear he decided upon returning to his horse to prevent it shying. He crossed half the road when he was knocked down by the car. He recovered consciousness some time later and was brought into Whangarei by Mr. Monk. Medical inspection revealed that no serious injury had been done, and Mr. Salle was able to return home. The front mudguard and bumper of the car were badly damaged, and apparently Mr. Salle was picked up and carried on the bumper for some yards.
