“WATERLOO” AT AUCKLAND?
COURSING CLUB BIDS FOR 1930 EVENT Two hundred pounds lias been guaranteed by a, keen member of the Auckland Coursing Club toward the stake money for the New Zealand 1930 “Waterloo” meeting, should the club bo successful in obtaining the right to stage tlio event. This fact was mentioned by the president, Mr. F. McConnell, at the adjourned annual general meeting held in the "New Zealand Worker” printery last evening. The club, which is affiliated to the National Coursing Association of New Zealand, has applied to that body for the 1930 “Waterloo'’ appointment, and members are confident that the request will be granted. One of the association's requirements is that a £2O cup shall be open for competition. Mr. McConnell announced that the outgoing committee had decided, that the Plumpton should be lengthened by 56 yards. A number of members formed a working bee to go out to the course at Otahuhu during the Labour Day weekend and set back the fence for that distance, the erecting operations to be under the direction of Mr. A. Durno. It was resolved that no free members’ tickets be issued during the comThe following officers, were elected: Patron, Mr. T. Richards: president, Mr. F. McConnell; vice-president, Mi*. L. M. Miller; secretary, Mr. W. R. Arnold; treasurer, Mr. R. Smith; committee, Messrs. A. Durno, E. Cl. Y'earbury, W. F. Donnelly, X. Basham and J. Smith. Messrs. M. Hardy, as identification steward, and J. McGrath, as stimulant steward, were elected to those positions for life, subject to satisfactory execution of their duties.
