From Our Own Correspondent | ROTORUA, Today. Ideal conditions characterised the j opening of the Rotorua Bowling season j last Saturday afternoon. The greens ! have never been in better condition, i due to the untiring efforts of Mr. Hes- . keth. superintendent of the Govern- I ment Gardens. The afternoon was devoted to a match between teams j selected by the president, Mr. K. A. j Ga rd ner, and the senioi vi< -pr si dent. Mr. G. Barber, the result being ! a win for the vice-president’s teams by 16S points to 147 points. Prior to the commencement of play j Mr. K. A. Gardner addressed the gath- j ing, wishing all a most successful sea- I son. He gave a resume of the club’s j history since its commencement in ■ 1901. pointing out that he was the only j one remaining of the original 15 mem- ! bers. After the singing of the Xational i Anthem Mrs. Gardner duly opened the I season by throwing up the jack and ! bowling the first bowl.
