TWO LAST OCTOBER

A NOTh’ER dual winner in the square-gaited section at the Auckland spring carnival last year was Tiger Salve, who annexed the two-mile event each day. The classes were a shade tighter than for the approaching meeting, but Togo Lee’s charge on the second day tramped 4.35 2-5 off a 4.33 mark. Tiger Salve won again at Alexandra Park on the final day of the Christmas carnival, and on Saturday he figures in the big trot in which he is handicapped at 4.35. If Togo has Tiger in his right coat again he will make things interesting for the opposition.
