NORTHCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The report of the council-in-commit-tee respecting the North Shore destructor was presented to the meeting of the Northcote Borough Council last evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. 12. Greenslade, presiding. The committee recommended that the council disclaim liability for operating costs of the North Shore destructor. The postponement of the Transport Law Amendment Bill for 12 months was considered advisable and the action of the Feilding Borough Council in its endeavour to have the Urban Lands Rating Bill postponed for 12 months was endorsed.
With a view to assisting the Marist Brothers in connection with proposed buildings and grounds on the Roman Catholic Endowment, the council consented to the closing of the whole of the roads from the College Road alignment. and to vest the land in the owners of the adjoining properties. A condition is that an area of not less than one chain in width around the foreshore of the lagoon commencing from the south-east boundary of lot SO and continuing to part lot 64 is transferred to the borough. The negotiations and arrangements for the exchange are to be carried out and completed by the Marist Brothers without cost to the council. The Devonport Borough Council, as the licensing authority, approved of the agreement between the council and the Y aitemaia Bus and Transport Company regarding the unloading of passengers at the wharf approach. The divisional plan of a property submitted by Mr. J. T. Aspeden between Milton Road and Nelson Avenue was accepted, and also the dedication of a road which will connect these two streets.
