POTATO MARKET WEAK
POSITION IN CANTERBURY CHRISTCHURCH. Today. The decline in the potato market referred to in Friday’s report continues. To farmers, £6 is being paid, equal to £7 10s to £7 15s f.o.b. The Wingatui is expected to leave Lyttelton tomorrow with a shipment for North Island ports. There is an improved demand for chaff, prices to farmers being £4 15s to £5. equal to £7 and £7 5s f.o.b. Milling wheat quotations show no fluctuations. For fowl wheat 6s a bushel is quoted. SYDNEY WOOL SALES Australian and N. Z. Press Association SYDNEY, Tuesday. At the Sydney wool sales today, 7,405 hales were sold. Competition was a ninja led, and prices, compared with last week, were slightly dearer for all good flee, e and skirtings. MINING NEWS HAURAKI. —The manager reports: •During ihe past week about Sib of specimen stone and about 301 bof picked stone was selected from the north stone «*n the Stockwood Reef, the gold being in the solid reef which at this point is 2ft in width. A few pieces of rich specimen stone was got from the hangingwall pug formation, Indicating that more gohl might be got higher up. Stripping operations are again in progress, both north and south, but no rising will bo done this week. The opening out sets for the rise on the junction of the Green Harp Reef and the Stockwood are in position and rising will be commenced light away.
