ELECTRIFIED SAWMILL

FIRST IN KING COUNTRY DATE PLANT From -Jut Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Monday. The first electrically-equipped tim-ber-mill to operate in the King Country has commenced cuting activities at Aria. The plant has been established by Mr. A. Henderson, and the amount of milling timber in sight is estimated at between 6,000,000 and 7,000,000 feet. The mill is up-to-date in every way, the power being obtained from t/he Wairere supply, both for driving the machinery and for lighting the men’s living quarters. Timber cutting has already commenced and it is expected that carting the product to the rail will begin in two or three weeks’ time. This latter part of the work is simplified oy the mill being situated near the main road. Some 20 men are employed n the various departments of the venture.
