CROQUET AT NORTHCOTE
OPENING OF WAITEMATA CLUB On Saturday afternoon the AVuitemata Croquet Club was officially opened for the present season. The president, Mrs. C. Rose, welcomed all players and friends. A pleasant afternoon was spent in friendly games. 1 Among those present were:—Mes- ! dames Rose, Cadness, Hubble, Potter, R. Johnston, Delaney, T. Hurley, I. Culpan, Neil, J. F. McPliail, McDonald, Bear, G. Fraser, Rowles Bethwaite, E.
. Bailey, Lethbridge, A. Campbell, Muir--5 head, D. O’Leary, and Lockie, and the Misses Williamson and Margetts.
TENNIS CLUB OPENING AT * DEVONPORT The Princes Street Tennis Club, Devonport, held its official opening on Saturday, when there was an excellent attendance of members and friends. Owing to the absence of the president, Mr. A. Harris, Mr. Oliver performed the opening ceremony. In an appropriate speech, he welcomed the old and new members and their friends. The first ball of the season was played over the net by Mrs, Beetson, Mr. Oliver declaring the court opened. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs. Beetson and the committee of the club, on the balcony of her homo, which was tastefully decorated with flags and flowers. During the afternoon some very good games were played.
