On this 124th anniversary of battle of Trafalgar, school children throughout Auckland are reminded of the epic which founded Britain’s naval supremacy. 4 To foster the spirit of reliance in Britain’s sea power for the defence of the Empire, ihe Auckland branch of the Navy League made all prepara tious for fitting observance of Nelson Day today by addresses in schools and screening of an appropriate film. The battle of Trafalgar celeb ratio ns in Auckland really commenced yesterday, when a special service attended by representatives of the League, was held in St. Matthew’s church. The observances were continued today, when the president of the Navy League, Mr. C. H. T Palmer, represented the executive’ at a luncheon at the Officers’ Club, and Mrs. Palmer entertained the women of the league executive at morning tea at the Lyceum Club. 8

The principal feature of ihe celebra. tions will be the screening of the Navy League film "Keep Watch” in the Majestic Theatre this evening The picture, which will be shown here for the first time in New Zea. land, was specially prepared by the Navy League in London. It deals with the importance of maintaining an adequate navy for Empire defence and the protection of 87,000 miles o£ commerce routes. The principal object of the film is propangauda for membership, league headquarters considering that at no time since the organisation was formed has there been such a pressing need for soma outside body to urge upon the Gov. eminent the necessity of maintaining sufficient naval strength. The picture should hold much interest from both an educational and entertainment standpoint. It is later to be exhibited throughout the provinces. During the day appropriate addresses on Nelson Day were given by representatives of the Navy League in the schools throughout the city.
