WIN FOR GREER’S
INTER-HOUSE BASKETBALL KNOCK-OUT TOURNAMENT Slick passing; superiority in long throwing, and splendid combination, gave victory in the annual basketball knock-out tournament of the Auckland Inter-house Girls’ Sports Association to R. Greer and Son’s team, when the events were played off at the Wellesley Street courts on Saturday afternoon. These games marked the conclusion of the association’s basketball season. The final was played between Greer's and John Court’s teams, the former winning by eight goals to five. Tho knock-out shield was presented to the captain of the winning side by Miss E. Wagner, president of the association. The outstanding teams of the tournament were Ambler's, Mack Logan’s, John Court’s and Greer’s. Results: First Round.—John Court’s, 10, v. Robinson’s, 6; Greer’s H won by default from Macky Logan’s B; Farmers’ Trading Company B, 9, v. Milne and Choyce C, 6; Milne and Choyce B, 12, v. Berlei Ltd., 6; Ambler’s, 6, v. Milne and Choyce A, 5; Macky Logan A, 9, v. Smith and Caughey, 7; Greer’s A, 8, v. Tattersfield’s, 6; Farmers’ Trading Company A, 7, v. George Court’s, 4. Second Round.—John Court’s, 13, v. Greer's B, 5; Farmers’ Trading Company, 13, v. Milne and Choyce B, 11; Ambler’s, 10, v. Macky Logan A, 5; Greer’s A, 10, V. Farmers’ Trading Company A, 2. Semi-finals.—John Court’s, 19, v.
