READING MURDER CASE
DREW’S DOUBLE SOUGHT BY POLICE FLYING-SQUAD AT WORK (Australian and N.Z Press Associationt LONDON, Friday Important developments -in connection. with the Reading murder are foreshadowed as a result of a conference at Scotland Yard, which lasted all day. As an outcome of the conference a flying-squad of police visited Northeast London in an effort to trace a man who is stated to be a double of Philip Drew, the actor, who was the central figure at the inquest. Particular attention is at present being paid to the evidence of a butcher’s assistant, named Wells, who was the only witness at the inquest who did not identify Drew. The police hope for a speedy elucidation of the mystery. In the meantime “The Monster” Company, in which Drew was acting, is being reformed and the tour will be continued. Drew’s services are greatly In demand.
