ROAD WORKS DELAYED
WAITEMATA COUNTY PLANS Action is being taken to create a special loan area for the building of the new Oratia Hall, and application for sanction is now before the Local Government Loans Board, according to a report? submitted to the Waitemata County Council yesterday. The council has decided to apply to the Minister of Justice to have a special constable appointed to Brown’s Bay for the holiday season, owing to cases of larrikinism being fairly numerous. Acording to the report of the engineer, Mr. A. Murray, the season’s programme in the county has been delayed a month, the Public Works estimates not yet having come to hand. It is expected that a survey of part of the Waikumete-West Coast Road will be undertaken during the coining month, in preparation for cutting back several dangerous coners. A stone crusher costing £250 has been purchased, and is to be employed in the Kaukapakapa riding.
