PRIVATE COMPANIES’ OPERATIONS QUESTION IN HOUSE Press Associatioii WELLINGTON, Friday. j The operations of private afforestation companies was the subject of some comment in the House of Representatives today when the Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, asked the Commissioner of State Forests, the Hon. W. B. Ta\'erner, when he would be able to make a j statement on the subject. The Minister replied that he did not j think he was in a position to make a j statement. He thought the public ! should be protected in every way and assisted in investing their money, but on the other hand if people were determined to inA'est their money in ventures such as afforestation they were beyond the control of the department. Mr. Holland: Will you make a Ministerial statement covering the whole matter? The Minister: I Avill consider the matter and see Avhat I can do.
