MUCH IN THE PUBLIC EYE.—Formerly a huddle of houses, the City of Telaviv, thanks to the energy of the Zionists, now presents a wonderfully changed appearance. In 1919 it was a suburb of Jaffa. In 1921 it was given the status of a municipality and these days it is the economic centre of the Jews in Palestine. The Jewish University was opened in Telaviv in 1925, and other of modern life include libraries and theatres. Telaviv lies on the Mediterranean coast and its entire population is Hebrew.
